# How do you get college students to show up?

Mixing event design and collaborative collegiate design

Make them food and drinks!

I cut, arranged, and shot a short advertisement for a design experiment centered on an apple cider press in a small, cramped and unused office. Built as a project within the greenhouse Olin design collaborative, a studio responsible for culture building and numerous traditions at Olin College.

Along with a short and sweet description, we sent this video through multiple channels at MIT, including Slack orgs, "Dorm spam" emails (dorm-centered mailing lists), and through FB messenger chats. This impromptu marketing and the tasty smell of apples resulted in a successful event drawing over a hundred MIT students and passersby through our temporary setup in MIT's infinite corridor in an effort to facilitate discussion over change-making at the university.
